Poems

Sooner or Later

Sooner or later, out from the forest of seem,
Out of the fretting of dream,
      Hear the note, clear?

Sooner or later, out of the marl and mess,
Out of the maul and press,
      Slips the idea.

Sooner or later, fledged like a golden bird,
Fluttering and glistening, the word,
      When you trust, will appear.

Sooner or later, see, it flits near;
Sooner or later, watch it fly here
      To take bread from your hand, without fear.
